Botox Cosmetic is a drug produced by a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum. The effect of botox is that of paralyzing muscles and thus helps to soften and reduce wrinkles on the face. Its onset of action is normally between 3-7 days after injection and its effect lasts for 3-4 months. Botox is also licensed to be used for a condition called Hyperhidrosis whereby it blocks the production of sweat by the sweat glands.
