Maria Agius graduated as a Medical Doctor with Honours from the University of Malta in 2006. She has been practising Ophthalmology since 2008. She has a vast experience dealing with general eye conditions such as sight problems, cataracts, high pressure in the eye (glaucoma) and diabetic eye disease.
In 2017 she was awarded an 18-month fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at the University Hospital of Southampton in the UK.
Her main surgical sub-specialisation is in dealing with Eyelid problems as well as dry and watery eyes. She regularly performs botox injections and dermal fillers both for medical conditions as well as for aesthetic reasons.
In 2019 she was promoted as a Consultant in Ophthalmology, operating both at the Gozo General Hospital and Mater Dei Hospital in Malta.
